Hi,

I was wondering if any Halcyon Pioneer Wing users with integrated tank adapters can help me out with an adjustment question.

I am very aware of how to adjust my harness to move the backplate position, as well as adjusting my crotch strap. The problem is, following Halcyon's guidelines I am hitting my head on the back of my tank while in the horizontal position.

Here is the confusing part, I have the backplate lower than they recommend and I attach the tank to the upper part of the Wing..right before the tank curves in. When I standup on the surface or am horizontal in the water, the first stage is nowhere near my head. As soon as I go horizontal it creeps up on me and is rather annoying.

Do I have my crotch strap too loose causing it to ride up on me?

Because I need to mount the backplate lower, my harness is really loose when I'm horizontal. It doesn't bother me, but I can fit more than a few fingers under it. :)

When I adjusted the BP to Halcyon's specs and stand up on the surface with the tank strapped in, I would literally turn my hands purple because it was cutting off circulation to my arms....way too tight. I kept adjusting it looser and looser until the tank would not hit my head, but I think I am doing something wrong.

It is obviously riding up on me in the horizontal position because the weight of the tank is not forcing it down....

Any takers?

Thanks,

Jason

Hey Jeep,

It took me longer then most to dial in my BP/w. I had the shoulder straps way to tight and didn't realize it until I watch a DIR video with George and two other guys going over some basic configs.

Basically what I got out of it was the shoulder straps should be so lose that they almost slide right off if you lean to the side. I think the rule of thumb is you should be able to place a fist between the shoulder strap and your chest.

The waist strap and the crouch strap should be pretty snug. The crotch strap is what really holds it all together.

After I set up my rig that way I no longer had any shifting in the water and I no longer hit my head on the first stage.

Thanks for your input. Thinking about what I have done to date, the only thing I havent tried is making the crotch strap a little snugger, after all nylon does stretch underwater. I do wet all my straps before donning my equipment, but maybe I'll take it a little more this time and see what happens.

Most guys do try and becareful with the crotch straps, afterall...I may want a couple jepuskar's running around some day...what a scary thought.

Once you adjust your crotch strap, see if you can still reach your valves. The downside to having it really snug is it may make it more difficult to do so.
