Hi!

Finally received my Halcyon BP/W after waiting for ONE WEEK!.. Anyways, this is probably kinda stupid, but I was wondering, the corrugated hose attached to the power inflator is kinda short, so how do I attach it to the shoulder harness? There's a rubber d-ring. Do I slip the entire hose in, or just the power-inflator, to hold it in place.

Also, how do you guys dump air while in the horizontal position? By the rear dump valve, or the inflator? I guess my question is, normally, for a BC, the hose is long enuff to lift above the head, while still being attached to the BC. For the Halcyon wing, do I have to detach the inflator eveytime i wanna dump air? Or do i use the rear dump valve? But in a horizontal position, is it hard to vent air, since the dump valve is on the underside of the wing?

Will appreciate any input! Thanks!

[Edited for clarity]

Stick the corrugated hose or the LPI hose, or both, through the rubber ring on the shoulder harness. That's what it's for.

Deflate the wing with the rear dump valve when at depth. Actually I nearly always use that one even above water. Lay flat and pull the string. Work's great.

It's not hard to vent air at all. It's dirt simple. And no even if you decide to use the deflate button on the hose, you don't need to detach it.

The dump valve is supposed to be on the underside of the wing. Have you looked at it in the water?

You can use either dump valve. And as for the corrugated hose, I am not sure what Perrone meant by thingy, but I put the Inflator hose through rubber tube to hold mine in place.

I have never seen anyone put the corrugated hose through the rubber band. Is that a common practice?

Just wasnt sure if the length of the corrugated hose is long enough for me to hold it up vertically to vent air...

You only need the thing to go 6" above your shoulder. How long do you want it? I think my Halcyon inflators are a bit on the long side personally.

All the cool kids in my neighborhood do it that way...

The other thing to remember is when dumping from the rear dump, pull up on the cord toward the surface to release the valve, if you pull down towards the bottom, the air will not vent as efficiently. This is of course assuming you are diving in the horizontal position. This happened to us during our first day of fundies a few months ago, and no one could figure out why the air was not dumping properly until Dean thumbed the dive and informed us how to properly use our equipment. :14:

:)

Trust us, it works.

(if you don't trust us, then you need to understand that when underwater, with a bit of air in the wing, the unsecured portion of the wing (furthest from the tank, will flare upwards like a taco as the air tries to pull it skyward. This means the valve that would normally be facing down, is now facing sideways away from the tank. I actually tend to pull my backward toward my butt as that feels the most comfortable motion to me, but others may find a different way more suitable)
