Habitat Curacao

Has anyone been to Habitat Curacao since Dec 2009. I was told that ownership and changed since then and was wanting to know if there was any changes good or bad since the ownership changed.

I was there is July 2007 and had a great time. Reef up there are a lot better than the reef by town. I did not mind the drive into town for dinner.

I checked out their website yesterday and it looks like the new ownership & management (Coral Estates) has taken effect. I'm wondering what happened to Easy Divers? We really liked them and now the on-site shop is DiverVersity? I'm also interested in finding out what if any renovations/upgrades have been done to the property and if Anne Marie is still running the dive shop.

We've stayed at Habitat before and while basic, it was comfortable and we were really happy with the house reef and ease of diving it 24/7. Great night dives. I was interested in maybe renting a villa next time and the new site does have several Coral Estates rentals listed.

We were at Habitat Curacao in September/October 2009. A good friend of ours is a divemaster there. Easy Divers was bought out from what we understand - some issues between the dive shop and management. The hotel has been undergoing some big rennovations/improvements and I guess the dive shop was not interested in doing the same. I spoke to our friend last week - the new dive shop is in and is very well organized. I understand they are building a new dock and trying to update a lot of the hotel rooms....but the diving was not affected....if you have any specific questions, send me a private message...

Thanks for the information! Too bad about Easy Divers. I actually liked them. (Not a fan of the "big company" type shops, prefer the low key, relaxed). Could have used some new lockers, but otherwise I thought the shop and staff were just fine.

The location, set up for diving and the house reef were great. We loved the view and location of our oceanview room, but screens on the windows and some updating would really go a long way.

Guess I'll keep watching various sites for some current reviews when I get closer to planning another trip and then decide.
