Does anyone know if there is an adapter that would allow two first stages to be attached to a single K valve or a Din valve?

I know that H valves exist, but if I wanted the advantage of diving with two first stages and all that was available at the foreign dive shop was your standard K valve or din valve, is there some sort of adapter and does anyone have a link to a website where it might be found?

Thanks.

Just realized that I put this in the new diver's category instead of the general scuba discussions category, but hopefully somebody will have an answer. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Why would you want to do that, if you can't selectively shut the air off to one of the first stages? Then it boils down to the simplicity of an H valve, right?

I was hoping for something with the ability to shut down either first stage, essentially like an H-valve, but as an adapter for a single valve tank.

If I am down in cozumel I don't want to ask the dive shop to unscrew one of their valves so that I can put on an H valve, I would rather just have an adapter that does the same thing.

I just dont know where to find one if they exist at all.

I've never heard of one of those, you might be out of luck.

If you really want to dive an H, I think the shop should accomodate. However, you might want to analyze your reasons for wanting to dive two first stages.

Anything like this would be very unsafe.. Seems like what your looking for it something that has a yoke/din fitting on it to bolt to the tank and then 2 yoke/din fittings off of it to go to your regulators..

Im guessing something could be rigged up using HP lines but the problem is that you will need a hose that doesnt have the tiny HP opening on it.. If something happends to either HP line and/or the regulator or regulator fitting then your screwed and have no way to shut it down..

I guess if there was a solid fitting that went on to the tank then maybe you could do it but it still wouldnt be safe..

I would get a trustworthy first and second stage and put a shutoff on the primary 2nd stage.. This is what I use and I can just shut down the primary 2nd if it has a problem and breath from my octo/inflator octo..

Funny you ask this.. I was thinking the exact same thing a while back but came to the decision that isnt not safe to do this.. I dont like only diving with one 1st stage and no pony bottle though.. :shakehead

They would laugh at you in Cozumel for asking this.. Down there they would probably even ask you why you wasted you money on Scuba classes in the first place.. :shakehead

I'm certainly not suggesting running hp hoses to connect up anything like this. Not sure why it would be unsafe (except if it were rigged to a yolk valve and you hit something overhead).

What's the reason you want the h-valves - redundancy? If so, why not get a 30 cuft t ank with regulator and SPG and sling it? Much easier. Of course, you'd need to practice using this before your trip.

They don't make any such thing that I know of either. Even if they did it would be pretty darn tall. You would have a male din connector that attached to the tank valve. 3 to 5 inches above that you would have one female DIN with a valve and then off to the side of that a second (third?) DIN valve. All in all you would have 3 valves to be sure were all on and it would probably be 3 pounds sitting very high which would require some major shifting of weight to maintain trim.
I can picture what you want. I just don't think it is practical. Have you thought about slinging a small pony bottle on those dives?
