Anyone a dealer or able to buy and sell Gull fins? OR just have an opinion of the fins. I am looking for a pair of full foot boat fins for tropical trips.

I've heard that the Gulls are quite good - but they're quite expensive. They're Japanese I believe.

I bought a pair of Mares Avanti Plana. They're excellent. I'd also advise betting a pair of lycra socks. They help donning your wetsuit, and the fins - and in my case prevented some slight chaffing on my ankles from the top of the foot rubber edge.

I even wear lycra sucks with booties due to ease of putting on suit/booties. They weigh nothing, take up no space, and make your suiting up easier.

I've snorkelled since the 1960s and I've never been tempted to switch from traditional natural rubber fins to the thermoplastic concoctions which western diving equipment manufacturers tend to produce nowadays. I own a pair of Gull Hard Mew fins and they are excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending them. I understand that they are the fins of preference for many New Zealand underwater hockey players too. Japanese diving equipment manufacturer Gull's range of fin colours is impressive and their all-rubber full-foot fins can be worn with or without booties. Gull's website is worth a visit.

I use a pair of full foot Gull fin while teaching PADI courses. Personally, I don't like it that much. I felt that the fins are weak. Probably nice for snorkeling. If I am to comment it, I won't recommend it for performance aspects.........................the color varieties are certainly sweet.

I still use them for ease of getting in and out of it at the pool with my students, and more importantly, I already have them sitting around in the house.

Gull make "Soft Mew" and "Hard Mew" as well as standard "Mew" full-foot fins. I tried out my XL Hard Mews this morning in the North Sea and their long stiff blades propelled me through the waves without any problems. Hard Mews also have a following among underwater hockey players.

Depends what you are looking for - power, manoeuvrability or endurance - when it comes to fin performance in these days of equipment specialisation. As a lifelong recreational snorkeller with no plans to graduate to scuba diving or free diving, I'm perfectly happy with my Hard Mews and I'm just glad that at least one diving equipment company is continuing to manufacture fins out of what I still consider to be the best fin-making material in the world. This is just one individual's opinion and experience, of course: everybody's different.

Fin preferences is certainly subjective.

Mine are HARD MEW, I just don't fancy them.

Hello Do you carry the Gull Barracuda fin in black, size large in either the "Professional" or "Standard" version? And what would be the difference in performance between the "Standard" and "Professional" version as far as achieving maximum performance and finning against a current? What would be the cost of these fins with shipment to Australia? Please let me know. Thank you.
