I have been given an older 32" JBL (aluminum I believe) spear gun. The shaft was a little rusted and after cleaning has some small pits in it. The bands were shot of course. My question is this. Is this gun worth getting new bands for? Is it of any use in this area? or should I just try to sell or get rid of it??

Thanks all

If you end up not wanting it, feel free to give it to me :) It'd be nice for beach dives and shooting sheep, mangroves, and triggers.

Sure.. do away with your line altogether and freeshaft or you could get your some 400lb test line and re-rig it As far as your bans go they run about $ 11.00 or so each. Any of the local dive shops will carry them. As far as your shaft goes take a file and sharpen the tip and kill some fish with it. If your bands are 9/16 which I think they will be and about 20" long I have a set I just changed out and their not all that bad your welcome to have. You must just live up the road from me Im here on 12 between 65 and 49 on the left with a 18ft boat beside the garage across from the sod field

We need to get together and shoot some fish

are you down by A&A A/C and the body shop then? I live up off of 87 and 38 just south of 90. north of Elberta

Definitely have to meet up sometime. shoot me a PM and we can exhange contact info

I've swapped the nylon line with some 1/8" SS cable on my 54", probably not necessary with the fish you'll shoot with that gun. The nylon will probably be fine unless you take it out somewhere with relief having sharp corners for the fish to cut the line on ;)

I'm right off 49 and 54 in Loxley.
