With all I heard about GUE fundies I would like to take the class. the only problem is I'm in southern NH and we don't seam to save a large GUE presence up here. I was wondering if anyone knew of a GUE instructor up this way or one that travels up this way for classes? I was surprised that GUE does not have a forum on hear, or did I miss it?

You can come here and dive deception pass as Guy shockey only lives a little over 15 miles from it by water. and is a very good gue inst and does a fundies class every month.

That would be great especially after looking at some pictures of the place. But It aint ever going to happen. I get 3 weeks of vacation and that is all reserved for family vacations and outings with my sons scout troop. Maybe someday I'll get out there.

Given where you are in Southern NH, your closest options are Bob Sherwood in NY and Ed Hayes in CT. (See THIS link for a list of instructors and links to their contact information.)

The other possibility, if you can't travel that far for a five day class, is to try to get together two other interested people and have the instructor come to you. I know Bob does this routinely; I don't know about Ed.

GUE does not have a specific subforum here. The closest is the general DIR forum.

I took fundies with Ed back in September and it was awesome. It was by far the best SCUBA class I have taken so far. Even better then my Divemaster course. Try and do it with people you know and dive with. I found being able to work as a team before we started the class was a big advantage.

If you are on facebook, join the NEUE group, they can point you in the right direction. Bob Sherwood is part of the group too..

Bob Sherwood is worth the trip! Reach out and talk with him about your options. He might even have a class going on closer to you.

Just saw this thread.

I've trained with both Bob and Ed. They are both quite good. Either will travel to you if you can find teammates and have the necessary local resources. Otherwise, easy enough to head their way. Ring them up and chat. It's the best first step.

Good luck!

Just noticed this thread as well. I'll add my name to the list of people that recommend Bob and Ed. Unfortunately, my only interaction with Bob was a GUE demo day a few years back but after that day I would wholeheartedly recommend him. I took fundies with Ed a few years back and he is a great instructor as well. I know it's a drive, but depending on where you are in NH, you might want to check out Ed's buoyancy class. He has in the past run one day buoyancy workshops so you might want to reach out to him about that.

If you're interested in taking a class with either of them this year drop me a PM. I may know of a few people that are interested in taking a class.
