I start lessons in 2 days. I have always wanted to scuba dive, and I finally went for it. I am going on a cruise to Acapulco, Ixtapa, and Manzanillo, Mexico in January and am planning on diving. I am very curious as to what types of marine life I will be able to see, and which port would be the most beneficial for my first "real" dive.

Welcome aboard.

My first dives were off a cruise ship. We dove Key West, FL (sucks big time), Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. I found that I loved diving but was only luke warm to cruising. All my vacations since have been dive vacations. If you like diving of a cruise boat, consider a liveaboard. I've done it twice, both times with Nekton. We did the northwest Bahamas on Nekton Pilot and all three of the Cayman Islands off Nekton Rorqual. It's eat, dive, eat, dive, eat dive, sleep and repeat. The only way to go in my book.

I have never done the dive locations you are naming so I can't answer those questions.
But welcome to the board anyway. Dive safe. Have fun.

PS (I just read your profile). Talk to the people at Neptune. They are good folk. Both Jake and his wife have a lot of expeience diving Mexico. They may have experience at those locations.
