Hello,
My name is Rick and... I am addicted to scuba diving.....oh wait, wrong forum....
My wife and I have been diving for ten years now. Originally from Delaware, we relocated to Central Florida 4 years ago to be near my wife's family. I'm a few weeks shy of 52 and work designing boats. I guess I'm a bit of a geek, as right after I started diving I jumped into the repair and service side of the scuba business by badgering my LDS owner into sending me to my first reg repair seminar. Originally I wanted to learn how all the equipment works, but dive stories and smell of new neoprene and Cristolube had me hooked. I started working nights in the dive shop to buy air, gear and go diving - the viscious cycle was complete!! I got my PADI DM certification in '03 to better help out in the scuba shop where I now worked 2-3 nights and to help me feel more comfortable when diving with my wife and daughter.
My wife is 48 and has been diving for 10 years as well, and is a middle school math teacher by choice...go figure. So, as you see we are both certifiabley crazy as well.
I have logged on several times just to read up on the various strings for several weeks now to better get a feel for the divers that make up SB, and finally got around to introducing myself. I started reading about ITK tonight and it sounds like a good opportunity to meet other divers and to soak up a little saltwater
. I'll put in for some vacation time tomorrow and see what's left in the way accomodations and dive slots. I looking forward to the experience!!
