Greetings, I was referred here by my brother-in-law who's heard me say for years that I was going to dive with him someday.

Unfortunately, I never made it a priority and over the past year, I've come to realize that life is too short to put off things that you really want to at least try and hopefully enjoy as much as I think I will. I'm making it a priority now.

I'm not certified yet and that's one of the main reasons I'm here

I'm hopeful that someone here might be able to point me in the right direction for certification somewhere near Effingham Illinois. I've done a little research and have seen references to OmniScuba in St. Elmo but haven't been able to get in touch with them. I also know there's a facility in Champaign IL, but was hoping to find something a bit closer to home if possible.

Sorry to make my first post a request for help, I'll do some digging through the other posts but figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot here as well.

Hi there, I'm also about to certify but over in the UK.

Hopefully you've found some info on other threads...I always see people suggest a google search for an LDS centre...but as always word of mouth is always best!

Good for you coming to ScubaBoard before signing up for training! You will find lots of help here. For recommendations on instructors, I would ask in the Geographic Forum in the Central US sub-forum. Maybe the mods can move this thread there?
