Hi Guys,
Greetings from St Maarten. I am a MSDT, enjoy diving and sailing and try to combine the 2 every time possible. See you around. Thierry

Bon jour Thierry! Welcome to SB. Are perhaps the one who created diving DVD's of SXM and Saba in conjunction with Lee @ Ocean Explorers around 2002?

welcome

Hi Jersey, no it isn't me and Ocean Explorer has now a new owner and I think that Lee has left the Island. Not sure though. I have been back to the caribbean just for a year now.

Though I grew up in these Caribbean waters in Martinique I left in 1994 to travel around the world: I lived in Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Danemark, Lithuania, Algeria, Congo RDC, Mauritius, French Guiana... I dived in several countries: Tahiti (encouter with a Longimanus), Florida (the biggest grouper I ever seen, on video on Youtube under itpersonne), France (well not a good diving spot for marine life, good for wrecks), Martinique (nice coral formation), Guadeloupe (idem), Saba (Great ! Unspoiled, nice corals and big fishes), St Maarten (Lots of nice spots, frequent encouter with sharks, turtles and eagle rays, marine life is good), Ireland (awesome one of my favorite dive but cold), Belgium (cold and poor visibility), Seychelles (Awesome ! A great place to dive), Mauritius (Great, nice Pterois in their natural environment), Rodrigues (Awesome, beautiful fishes), Thailand (I am not too keen, ok diving I would say), Holland (cold, poor visibility big lobsters), Spain (Great around the Medes island otherwise it's ok but not fantastic life around), Jamaica (Port Antonio was nice, Coral reef is not too damaged, life is good), Sardinia (a disaster, dynamite style fishing has destroyed everything I guess), Crete (same as Sardinia, not a nice diving spot), Germany (interesting dive on a wreck on the Baltic side, different).

All right now you know more about me, you can always check the blog I started in Mauritius:
intensif.blogspot.com/

Also I am in the process of starting a sail and dive charter in St Maarten-St Barth-Saba-Statia-St Kitts. If you are in the business or have tips I am open to all suggestions, I will be ready in November 2010.

Wow IT - you have been all over living and diving! Good for you! Yes, I knew Lee had sold his shop and left the island, found out on my last trip there in 2007. Dove with Aquamania that trip. Based on your list above I may be adding some more dive spots to my list - always wanted to visit Seychelles, will now have to bring gear!

I will drop you a line if I find myself heading to SXM soon. Mom asked me to plan a trip with her between now and end of year. She loves the island and I get to do some diving in the morning and play tour guide in the afternoon. Wishing you luck on the sail and dive charter business.
