New
Hello everyone. I'm new to the board & thought I would introduce myself. I'm Marc & I'm newly certified for OW & plan on doing my AOW in the near future.
I started diving back in 1999 on a trip to Cozumel. A friend of mine's parents had moved there to start a dive business. They took their boat from Florida I think & were building a house & that year they still had their time share which was the penthouse suite at Plaza Los Glorias (it's changed names I think around 2005 or so) so we got to stay for free for a week since they had their home built at this point. Anyhow, the took us out diving on their fantastic boat, the Yellow Rose. One friend & myself had never been diving, while the rest of our group were all certified. The dive master was fantastic & he said I took to it like a natural. I had such an awesome experience. We went for Thanksgiving & we got to spear some lobsters for our Thanksgiving dinner! I was amped up to get certified when I returned. I lost touch with Scott, the guy that invited us shortly after the trip & didn't have any other friends that were into diving or that were interested in getting certified with me so it got pushed aside for other hobbies like drag racing.
I went again to Cozumel in 2005 (if I recall) right when they were about to renovate the Plaza Los Glorias so they could be a "resort" under some new resort law. I was able to talk my girlfriend into doing a resort dive with me & we dove from the shore of our hotel & drifted down the coast with our instructor & had a great time. Again I tried to get some people to get certified with me & didn't have much luck. Fast forward to this May & I started with a new company that has lots of people that dive & a colleague that wanted to get certified & here I am.
I have a full set of gear with exception of wet suits, but I'll be ordering one soon. So, if you are looking for a dive buddy, look me up, I may be free for a trip. I'm interested in making new friends locally & abroad so don't be shy.
Cheers,
Marc
