Green Turtles now Least Concern

The IUCN has just re-classified the green marine turtle as "Least Concern", from previously "Endangered". This is a great success for marine conservation in multiple countries. What the assessment means, plus new green turtle footage from 2 days ago in the Philippines are featured in this new video:

Indeed. Here a few good things came together. The fact that these are "charismatic" animals certainly helped.

Great news for the turtles! I just hope that the removal of protections doesn’t undo the gains.
