I was wondering if anyone out there had any experience with either the 21 W Salvo HID canister light, or the Greenforce Arrow A12 with the HID 50 Pro Head. I am looking into buying one or the other, and both seem to be good quality lights, for around the same price. Should I look into these, or is there an alternative out there that is a little bit cheaper (they are both around $1400-1500 Canadian)

Don't know anything about the Greenie, but I own (just 5 dives on it) and have done some research on the Salvo 21w.

It's basically the same as the Halcyon 21w, but comes with the Brightstar bulb, which is said to be a much hardier bulb. You can drop the lighthead without fear of bulb damage. You can hot strike it repeatedly. It's color is not as blue, and some say not as bright as the Halcyon.

Barry Miller (the owner of Salvo) works very hard to keep you happy, with easy access to him personally, and great service. You wanna' ask questions and talk about lights and diving? Not as much as Barry.

The only complaint I have with Salvo is that they got my address wrong TWICE now, even though I sent a reminder email the second time.

Oh well. These guys make great lights, they're not good secretaries. :05:

And, welcome to ScubaBoard!
