Apparently the diver was wearing an Australian-made version of the SharkPod, but it was a model that the company claims is no longer in production, and the company, SeaChange, is requesting more information. They claim it is the first attack on a person wearing the device.

Given the size of the shark, I'm doubting any device would have been effective anyway. Sort of like using a flyswatter on a pteradactyl...
