My wife has reserved a one day trip with Great White Adventures for Shark diving the Farallon Islands next season.

It looks to be owned by someone different now.

Im looking for any other people who have done this particular trip with them and how their expierience was.

Was it fun,exciting,worth the money?

Ive read a few reviews some say it was great, but I also read a review that said save your money.

I really doubt being able to see these awesome animals from the cage with the limited vis and not chumming just using decoys.
But just watching an attack on a seal or dummy from the boat would be pretty cool.

Shred,

I've not been to the Farrallones, but I have been to Guadalupe with Lawrence Groth and Great White Adventures twice. Great White Adventures has been running trips to the Farrallones since 1998. It looks like there is now another company making trips there as well through an outfit called Incredible Adventures. The confusion may come in the way the new company has the trip titled on thier web page....
Great White Shark Adventures in San Francisco.

Here's the original guys....$775

And these are the new people...$875

As far as the trip being worth the money, I can't say as I have not been there. But to me, it would be worth it to make the trip to Southeast Farrallon Island just to be able to go and experience the atmosphere of this forbidding place.

As far as Guadalupe with the Great White Adventures team...it's the trip of a lifetime. I know it sounds cliched, but it's true.

The sharks are magnificent, and the crew of the Searcher is fantastic, as well as the staff of Great White Adventures. All great people.

Also, get your wife a copy of The Devil's Teeth by Susan Casey. I have some issues with this book (search my previous posts) but it is a good book to read, especially if your going to go there soon. There is good history on the islands in the book.

So, which company is your tripped booked with?
I will be going at some point, with ...

so I would love to hear how the trip goes in 2006.

Cheers...
Bill

Yes the trip is with G.W.A. The trip is for me wife may go as a ride along, she doesnt dive. I read The devils teeth soon after it came out.It mentions some people I have known, such as Randy Fry and others from a freedive list I belong to.

On my brossure from gwa The form was written by lawrence"president" but was crossed out and signed by the new owner im assuming. Cant think of his name as im at work and the papers are at home.

I think i will goggle the name when i get home.

Thanks for the reply,
Steve

Steve,

Cool...
I'm curious as to who owns it now???
I hope you have a great trip and get to see some of the Farrallon Great Whites!
Hopefully the topside action will be good too!
Please do a trip report afterwords...
Cheers,
Bill

I've never done a trip with them or know anything about their ownership but do know that their diver James M. is a stand up guy (one hell of a whale rescuer too)and will tell you how it is with out blowing any smoke up your tail.
I'm a local and have seen large sharks there several times.
Nothing quite like it,well... OK I guess there are 3 or so spots in the world.
"Is it worth it?" That would depend on how much your money is worth to you.
You are going to dig it.
Good luck
Andy

Did anyone make the trip, if so what was it like? I'm going to be going in october (the GWA one day Farrallons trip) and I'm quite curious as to what to expect.
