The Westin in Grand Cayman is a very nice hotel. They have the nice fluffy heavenly bed and excellent ammeneties. I hope you don't think your trip is going to be cheap just because you got a good deal on the room. I dropped about 8 grand on my trip to Cayman but it was worth every penny. $300 dollar meals, $50 cab rides (1 way), $16 martinis, $30 cognacs... And don't forget to add another 20% for the exchange rate and another 15% on top of that for the tip. I dove with red sail sports and had a blast.

like anyplace, GC gets even more expensive if you go out of your way to make it so, or can be somewhat reasonable if you make that effort.

Renting a car on GC costs less than $50/day.

Focker:
And driving that car on the right side of the road could cost you your life.
haven't found it to be a problem...or I should say, my husband hasn't. He drives, I just get in the passenger side on the left and automatically turn the rearview mirror my way.

Based on a conversation I once had with a local police officer in GC, tourists don't seem to have problems driving on the "wrong" side of the road. However, when tourists are being pedestrians, they apparently are more at risk because they tend not to look the right way before crossing.

That is very true. I can't tell you how many times I looked left to make sure there were no cars coming and stepped out right in front of a car (coming from the right). Another "wierd" thing about Cayman is their speedometers are kph instead of mph. I remember riding in a taxi one night and I looked at the speedometer and I was like holy crap we're going 75.

Boston has trained me well for Cayman. Soon after I moved to Boston I started to look both directions no matter what, driving or walking, as some people drive, um, creatively. I've seen too many cars going the wrong way on one way streets to count on anything. And of course there is the famous "left on red" to watch out for. :)

just noticed the original title of this thread - about hotel rates at Westin. LOL!
