I was there last fall. Stayed at PORT LUCAYA RESORT & YACHT CLUB. It was about the best deal I could find. Nice size room, overlooking the marina and the "downtown" for a better word. Actually looked like the photo they use (LOL) Clean, friendly, etc.... The beach is a short walk. I got a good deal on expedia.com on the room. Cheaper than any other site. The other hotels are nice and on the beach, but there was a steep price increase. The real cheaper ones are away from Port Lacaya and Our Lacaya, which seemed to be the place to be. The little "town square" has plenty of activities and places to hang out and the beach is really nice.

Food, dinning and drinks were my trip budget killer. Plan on $10 for a hamburger....It was not cheap. There is a little cafe on the water between the little square and the hotel. If I remember the name, I'll post it. Something like the Sunshine Cafe....It had good food at a good price. Actually the only cheap thing was Rum at the little package store.

I used a dive operation called Sunn Odyssey Divers run by Nick and Karen Rolle. It is a small family operation. Karen was very helpfull with my reservations and travel info. They were reasonable and they picked me up at the hotel every morning. They have a little opperation and only 4 of us went out each day on the boat. Nick is the DM and he is really safe and professional. His son stays on the boat while he dove with us. I had no buddy so we paired up. I rented my equuipment from them and it was all in great shape. Besides, Nick was fun to hang out with. If you end up using them, tell them Steve, the crazy navy guy, said hello.

If I could afford Our Lacaya, it is nice. I met some girls who were staying there and I ended up hanging out with them. But the Port Lacaya Resort is just across the street, marina view vs. ocean view, closer to the night activity and I never got hassled using Our Lacaya facilities, except the towle guy.

I loved Theo's Wreck and the diving is realy nice. Great visability and warm water. There was anouther little tiny wreck, but I think that was it. I had a great time.

Good luck and have fun.
Steve

P.S. I am going to Cozumel in APR/May. I am looking for some info, see my thread : http://www.scubaboard.com/t22377/s.html
