If you visit Grand Bahama diving wtih Granda Bahama Scuba is your best bet on the island.

My wife and I dove with them 10/12/08-10/18/08. We did not get as many dives as we usually like. The conditions did not permit the dives we wanted to do.

Fred and Melinda were the best. No extra charge for the shark dive.

This operation is world class. They will let you explore the reef on your own if you show you are capable.

I plan to dive with this operation again.

Fred and Milinda All the Best You guys are Great!!!!

kcneff,
Just so you understand no dive operator on grand bahama has an extra charge for diving on shark junction. as you can always go there and find lots of sharks milling about which i guess you could pawn off as a shark dive,a lot of operators use it as there second dive following the first deeper dives.
Now if you want to experience a shark feeding, including tonic immobility (putting a shark into a
trance) this is done by experienced feeders in chainmail suits, and saftey divers. this has a extra charge Xanadu and Unexso both offer that dive.and it is well worth the money.
below is a link I found on utube someone uploaded.

Moray48 your are correct you will always see sharks in shark alley. Your are wrong as far as the extra charge. Both operators you mention do the shark dive with chain mail and do charge extra for the shark dive. Grand Bahama does use the shark dive as the second dive of the trip and we got about 50 minutes BT including the sharks getting to watch us blow bubbles until bucket of fish parts was empty.

welcome aboard

We also were on that same dive (crazy group of 6 from Ohio) :D Good to see you here and total agreement that we will definitely use Fred and Melinda again next time we go.

What a great operation and wonderful time to meet new people.

Congratulations to you and your new Bride

I made 2 trips to the Grand Bahama Island during 2007 and dove both times with GBS. Fred and Melinda are great and provided outstanding service. During Feb. 2008 I had a chance to go to Nassau and dove with Stuart Coves (12 dives). It was worth doing but for my money and time I'd pick GBS any day over them. Cattle boat vs. the personal attention Fred and Melinda give you. That why I'm going back to dive with GBS this Feb (2009) again. They have my vote.

Fred and Melinda mad our trip extra special. Melinda had our gear on the boat and setup for us. They left the gear up to you at the back of the boat (no trying to walk from the front to back in your fins and BC). They also keep things well organized but let you do your own thing. We were allowed to go on our own as long as we were up in 1 hour. That is nice because we (my wife and I) have about 40 dives under our belts and we are pretty comfortable doing our own thing. We would definitely use GBS again. Their prices are more than fair and they try to get you out whenever the weather permits.

I agree. Fred & Melinda are the best for your money in Freeport. They give the personnal touch that most large companies do not. I dive with them everytime I go over there & if you email them ahead of time; they will pick you up at no extra charge. You just have to let them know in advance.
