TACA has some crazy fares for next year loaded in the system right now; got two tickets for April 12-19 next year on the Houston to Roatan nonstop for $237.20 each (tax included) from their website! So if you are thinking about a trip for next year, go grab 'em!
What I am looking for are some insights comparing a couple of the smaller dive resorts on the island--The Inn of the Last Resort (IotLR) and the Reef House Resort.
For perspective, when we go to Bonaire, the wife and I stay at the Black Durgon Inn, which we adore, and really have little inclination to go much larger. For Roatan, it seems like all-inclusive makes sense, so we'll modify our prospects a little bit there. What we would like is a place that has something of the feel of Black Durgon: clean, comfortable, RELAXED, not too many other folks. (For these reasons, we've bumped CoCo View down our possible list.)
So, here are some specific questions:
1) How does the shore diving at IotLR and Reef House compare to each other?
2) My initial research suggests that the fish life in the NW, around IotLR, is better than Reef House...is this true?
3) What are the effects of the new cruise ship port construction likely to have on the diving area around both of these resorts?
4) For the boat dives, which group of divemasters is more comfortable dealing with photographers?
5) How does the "feel" of the dive ops at the two places compare?
Thanks!
