i did my PADI RESCUE Course. PADI states it to be a 3 day course. It took me 5 days. The school refuses to do it in 3 days. I had to do my final scenarios correctly and had to do them correctly more than once. Also in Thailand at this time the weather is stormy, the water choppy and the currents strong.

I am grateful to the school for their thoroughness and commitment. Had they pushed me through in 3 days i would not have the confidence. Even with 5 days i know i need practice, practice, practice.

Their initial DM course is 3 weeks not 10 days.

I think i will do my DMT with them

Congrats! Glad to here there are schools that realy teach not just collect money and hand out cards.

Durian,
Congratulations on your accmplishment. And a thumbs up to your instructor for being thorough and giving you that confidence. Good luck to you.

Congratulations, It sounds like the course was tough, as it should be. I'll bet you loved every minute of it though, I haven't met a diver who didn't.

Yeah, congratulations! Quite an achievement, you should feel proud of yourself. I too am glad that your school did not do the 3-day-miracle, but took some more time. And if you felt "in tune" with the instructors, it might be the right place when eventually you want to go for DM.

Congratulations!

(PS: Am I right that your nick is an incredibly odd looking, but wonderfully tasting fruit?)

yes that is what it is, I love the stuff.

thanks for all of your encouragement.

durian,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! :dazzler1:

I hope that someday, I will also go through the course. And, when that day comes... I hope my instructors extend the course like your instructor did!!!

Have a great day!

Congrats!! Its nice to hear there are other Instructors out there just like mine. My Rescue class took 5 days as well, in some of the murkiest water (instructor said "bad vis makes for a better rescue class") when I finished that class, for the first time, I felt like I really earned that certification (no hand outs!!). I'm just about finished with my DM cert. and this is another one I'll more than earned. To date I've been in class for over a month, mostly pool sessions and OW classes, a few AOW, and my last class had 7 OW students 6 of which were under the age of 16. My instructor has really gone way out to make sure I get to experience all kinds of situations ect. (there is only 2 of us in the class, so tons of one on one time) I can't stress it enough to people to be CAREFUL who the choose to teach them.
