Hello Underwater videographers,,

Is this a good deal, second hand:

Sony HD-HC1 camera, with Sea and Sea VX HC1-Pro housing, with lights; 2x LX55 plus arms and chargers etc.

All for £2000.

The seller can sadly no longer dive due to medical reasons, so has no use for the equipment.

So divers,, Is it a good deal?

Maybe this will help:

I own an HDR-HC1, I paid $1500US for it 4 years ago. It's discontinued as is the S&S housing. The last price I saw on a new closeout HDR-HC1 was $800 about a year ago. You can price them on eBay new/used often.

I was on eBay earlier today and saw this: Sony HDR HC1 HD+ Sea & Sea VX-HC1 Underwater Housing NR - eBay (item 110318357133 end time Dec-06-08 22:11:08 PST)

Might give you an idea of the current value of the gear. But that VMC75 Monitor included in the auction was $1100 new also.

The LX55's are $520US new, the arms about $100-150 each. The lights are also discontinued. With S&S you do pay extra for the chargers also.

Seems to much for me. The HC1 is very good. I had the HC1 then the HC7, sold it again and bought an HC1 again one year ago :-) For 600 Euros (400 Pounds). So it would be 2400 Euros for the housing. Pay 1100-1700 and you have a new one.
