Hi! My husband wants to do a boat race and while I like sailing, I'm not up for a race, so we're going to do separate holidays and I'm going to do a dive liveaboard instead. I did a lot of them when I was single and with him, but this will be the first time since we were together that I'll be doing one alone. Anyone else done this? What's a good one to go on? Recommendations? I have a lot more money to spend on holiday now since we're not paying for two of us to go, so I'm thinking Maldives, Borneo, etc., something really good that I would not get to do normally.

Hallo Chantana. Trip sounds like good fun! I've done all my dive trips solo as I can never find anyone who wants to go on a real expedition like I do, and have always done liveaboards save for one very good visit to Micronesia where I dived with Yap Divers at the Manta Ray Bay Hotel.

Haven't done the Maldives or Borneo, but what about the Solomon Islands? I loved the Spirit of the Solomons, run by Bilikiki. Vessel, crew and diving were all top notch, and although I don't usually backtrack and re-visit places as there are so many new and exiting locations all over the world to explore, the Solomons are one destination I certainly do wish to return to. Spoilsport in Oz, Sundancer II when it was still in Palau, a couple of good Red Sea dive ops that did the far South and Brother Islands...all good!

Going solo definitely has its advantages, particularly when it gives a 'money is not such an object' slant to your options!
