Hey all
Im going to Puerto Morelos with my girlfriend and I would like some suggestions on how we should go about getting some dives in. I was thinking maybe 6 dives in 3 days or so because we want to relax too. We are Open Water Certified and Im looking to take some underwater photos. It would be great if we could get some ideas and even some dive shops that are not too expensive. Thanks

You might try posting in the Mexico section of the board rather than this Cozumel section. I have not done any diving in the Puerto Morelos area but I have a bit further south from there in the Akumal and Puerto Aventuras areas. You can try to contact Denis Weeks, Diablo Divers - Home . The cenote (cavern) diving you can do from your area is amazing.

You are going to be half way between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. It would be a stretch to do your diving from Akumal or Puerto Adventuras unless you are just doing cenotes. Your best bet would be to use the dive op right in Pt Morelos, Aquanauts Dive Adventures, for two days of reef and then check out the cenotes to 'top off' the holiday. I haven't used that particular op because I usually dive from Playa or Cozumel. Any dive op, including Aquanauts, can get you to the cenotes and getting a three day/2 person package price will certainly benefit the pocket book. If you don't want to dive in Pt Morelos then your next best option, for convenience, would be Playa del Carmen, where there is a dive shop on every corner. This would be better if your are staying in a condo and have access to a car to get to Playa and back each day. I like to dive with as many shops in Playa as I can but end up going back to GeoFish. Anyways - enjoy your vacation.
