Yesterday I went for a dive at Goat Island. I haven't been there for years but I recall snorkelling amonst huge snapper, fish everywhere and yesterday I was appalled at the lack of marine life... a few small snapper, a few crays but hard to find, no kina. The vis wasn't great and there was a bit of surge, but still would have expected far more. I am hoping yesterday was just a bad day but a google search found a news article about fish numbers being as low as they have been since the reserve was created in the 1970s. I don't usually dive in this area but was interested to hear what others thought?
