While exploring deep reef in the 50-80m range we have discovered giant black coral trees, some standing in excess of 2m high. Until we started doing these dives this black coral was not known to exist in coastal SE Australia waters and is likely to be a new species. Below is a video put together from some of our dives on one particular offshore reef .
