I just don't log dives
Anybody have experience on getting their PADI OW and AOW certificates in the GTA (greater toronto area)?

I'm just starting out and need some guidance on how to get these certs without having to travel outside of the GTA and get it done in the most economical($) way possible

Ideally I would like to stay local and complete the required checkout dives and or any hours I need to put in, so 3000$ trips to Mexico are out of the question.

I got certified through Aquarius Scuba Centre Aquarius Scuba Diving Center - Scuba Equipment - Sales, Rentals & Training Instruction Courses in Toronto, ON (416) 604-4203 (I thing it might technically be in Mississauga) and we did the checkout dives in gullivers lake(about an hour from Toronto http://www.gulliverslake.com/directions-18 ). They were very accommodating since I needed to rebook the classroom portion.

That was probably over a decade ago and I haven't dived with them since then because I moved out of the geographic area.

From what I remember, the chief instructor has all sorts of qualifications and used to do competitive freediving and deep technical dives.

Centre of the Universe...

It's a Canada thing. Which is why the OP would assume everyone knows what GTA means. :)
