We arrive June 18th at 4:40pm. What would be the quickest and most inexpensive way to get to Utila? I noticed that TACA has a flight for $134.00 but that seems a bit too pricey.

It would be nice not too have to spend the night in San Pedro Sula. I would much rather stay in La Cebia if we cant get to Utila on the evening of the 17th.

It is a full moon that night and I would love to get a night dive in. (wishful thinking i know)

Other than flying, there is no way to get to Utila the same day from a 4:40 pm arrival. By surface transportation you could take a cab to town for about $12, a bus to La Cebia another and another cab to the ferry. You are probably getting in too late to take the last bus out of SPS to la Cebia. In that case, you are better off staying near the airport.

Even if you fly, diving that evening is a real long shot as you would likely arrive after most dive shops are closed, and if they have a night dive, they would already be on it.

Unless that $134 is a hardship, or you are planning on staying for months, you really ought to fly.

It turns out that the flight on TACA for 134.00 leaves at 4:40. This is a problem because that is when we arrive from Miami into SAP.

Any other airlines going to Utila or Roatan that evening?

Short of chartering a plane, I think you're going to find you won't make it into Utila on the 17th.

Sounds like you're flight gets into SAP at 4:40pm, but you'll still have customs & Img. to clear, so you probably won't be ready to fly until 5:30pm or later. The SAP/UTL flight gets INTO Utila around 4:30p-5:00p. The last flights from RTB/UTL are usually here by 6:00-6:15pm, but I don't think there's any SAP/RTB flight that will get you there in time.

Contact Mayan Caribbean Tours, they're based out of SAP and do flights, as well as private Van charters. They might be able to help you arrange something to get to LCE on the 17th.

Oops. We arrive on the 18th. I leave ohio on the 17th.

Thanks UTLgirl, I will get in touch with Mayan Caribbean Tours.

Good news. I booked a flight on Islena Airlines from SAP to La Ceiba for 62 dollars. It leaves at 20:45 from SAP. This works perfectly since we are arriving in SAP @ 16:45.

Looks like you get to have a few beers on the beach in La Cebia, and take the ferry over to Utila the next morning. Happy diving.

Beers on the beach will be wonderful. I hope the airport is close to where the princess departs the next morning.

Any suggestions on where to stay that night in La Cebia? It would be nice to be able to walk to the Utila Princess, or at least be somewhat close.

(sorry for bumping my own thread)
