A 63-year-old German tourist has died during a diving excursion off the coast of Mallorca. A police spokesperson confirmed this and launched an investigation. The man's place of origin in Germany was initially unknown.

He was part of a diving group on Tuesday in Font de Sa Cala, near the popular German holiday destination of Cala Ratjada, in the northeastern part of Mallorca. Whether he was a beginner or an experienced diver was not known.

According to police reports, the man suddenly felt unwell underwater and managed to surface. His companions brought him to shore, where rescue services could only confirm his death.

Despite his companions' efforts to revive him, the man failed to regain consciousness after his unpleasant underwater episode. Despite being an avid diver, this unfortunate incident occurred during his diving expedition.
