Not much current information out there on diving General Santos on Mindanao. South Point Divers (Lemlunay Resort) looks like a wonderful place with great diving right out front. Interesting things nearby---Lake Sebu and maybe some snorkeling with Dugongs (near Malita) not that far from General Santos. Read some older posts about a coal plant being built near Lemlunay--and there is some concern about safety. Just thought I would see if anyone has any recent experience. I really enjoy going to places somewhat off the general tourist track--and General Santos is only an hour flight from Cebu

The diving in front of south point divers is very nice, the wall and coral cover is great lots of reef fish, very strictly controled sanctuary, currents can be strong.Nice lowkey dive shop prices for dives were very reasonable you can do 3 dives a day, Paul the owner is a really nice guy knows a lot about the local area. Its a big fruit growing area, and cattle country as well as tuna fishing, the roads are better than cebu.I Felt safe there, the army is there at various sections.IF your on a budget for accomodation there are cheaper hotels in gensan city about 25 km away from south point divers, then just get jeepney in the morning. I was last there 2 years ago so not sure what effect coal plant has had on the area or if it is finished yet.
