Considering Mike Ball or Spirit of Freedom liveaboard for a 1 week trip in 2011. Can go last half of April or last half of November. Research I have done says weather, water temp, etc should be about the same for both time frames. Any tips, advice, etc on which one might be better?

Thanks in advance for your response.

You have chosen well with a seven night Spoilsport and Spirit of Freedom trip - you cant really go wrong :D

Late April gives you a great chance to see manta rays and hammerheads in the Coral Sea. If you are lucky you may encounter whales on the Ribbon Reefs but a better chance a bit later. It can be more windy during late April.

November may get you in the water when the coral spawns but you need to time this perfectly...

Otherwise conditons pretty much the same although tropical weather is unpredictable.

I would go in April because I would not be able to wait till November :D

pretty much agree with On The Spot. Your choices are excellent. Only snag I can see is the weird weather patterns we are having.

Rainy season may run a little later than normal and into April, but shouldnt affect it to much.
