Hi, quite excited nowadays since I am about to built up a new Sony HDR xr500V and a Gates housing XR520 w/greenforce HID50.

I appreciate any comment and experience about my choice.

The Gates XR520 with Squid 50 lights is a fantastic choice. A great, compact system. One VERY important thing to pay attention to for this system is the port choice. The Fathom Wp25 from Gates is the best all around lens choice. 90 degrees of coverage, glass optic, 30-35% zoom through capability...its a must have. The larger and MUCH more expensive SWP25 is nice, but overkill for many. The few hundred you save to go down to the GP25, you will lose a LOT of quality and versatility...trust me and go with the Wp25.

Thanks Mike, glad to hear that..
I did as you suggested - with WP25 and FP25. And together with a FII battery pack for the lights. It cost a lot but I think it will work.
