I'm looking into a Galapagos liveaboard which will be my 1st liveaboard. I'm AOW, 55 dives with some Jupiter/West Palm beach, FL open ocean drift and currents diving experience, and nitrox certified. Bucket list is giant mantas and hammers thus the Galapagos. I'm good if I have to sit out a couple of dives but don't want to get into a situation where I'm in over my head for a good portion of the trip. So, are there months where there is a high likelihood of mantas and hammers and the diving conditions are more suited to someone of my general experience?

Socorro is obviously another option but from what I've read and people I've talked to Socorro can be beyond my skill level but then again so may the Galapagos. And, if Socorro is a more viable option which months would best suit my skill level?

Welcome any and all thoughts by those have first hand knowledge of either Socorro or Galapagos.

Thanks all.
