Hello every one, well I have finally worrked my way down the list and the Galápagos Islands is on the agenda. But as we all know, this is a trip that has to be done with a group of people that know how to enjoy the experience - no matter what that experience is.
Sharing a live aboard with upto 16 others for a week or so can be a life altering experience. But all it takes is one not so happy person who really has a hard time "going with the flow" to make a great vacation into, well somnething else.

I am going to go and enjoy one of the world's most increadable dive site's, and like many of you who - want the same experience, need to go with a group. ( live aboards are too expensive for one fellow to afford). So, I thought I would inquire if there were any parties out there that are trying to put together a trip this winter and might be looking for an partner.

I am very easy going, and never get sea sick ( know how that could be a downer) I have been diving for a while (best check out my Bio on this). and love videography. OK this is starting to sound like a "peronal's ad". Anyway, drop me a line if you are trying to get one together.

Thanks!

I am looking into a Galapagos trip circa May-June 2011. I will be bringing at least one other on this trip, although I've not yet looked at prices.

I will not use the Aggressor II boat.

Though it's still a bit premature, for any of you interested in a 2011 trip, there will be at least 2 new live-aboards in the water. I can only speak for one of those. She will dive spots others currently don't, but of course include Darwin and Wolf. She is innovative in terms of expanding the safety standards in Galapagos diving. She will neither be the poshest boat nor the least posh. What is great about her is that she will cost at least $1000 pp per week less than others. My guess is that with the new permits, there will be more alternatives in pricing. There will be up to 15 permits that may or may not put operations in the water over the next 3 years. Rules are changing yet again. Itineraries may be more strict. Big meeting with new permits with the new Park Director today. We shall see. Long story short, more options are on the way.

If you want to get an up to date availability list of all Galapagos liveaboards for 2010 and 2011 with details, rates and spaces, send me an e-mail to dom@diveadvice.com or check our website DIVE ADVICE TRAVEL - Welcome to Dive Advice Travel. We do have a few spaces on a 10 night trip aboard the Deep Blue with a group from the UK for Jun 6-16, 2011 if that appeals. We'll be listing the new boats as soon as we have the info on them.

I am looking in to a trip over my birthday in March 2011. Leaving USA some time 18 or 19 and being in the Galapagos for 10 days or so I am looking for a mixed trip diving and hiking.
If anyone has some ideas.
Also all the adds talk about doing a check out dive or getting fitted?
Are there some packing list available for the Galapagos or is there a baggage restriction on getting there in the small planes?
I want to dive my BC and gear.
Wetsuit recomendations (sp)
Thanks.

Your best bet is going to be a land based operation. The liveaboards are really focused on diving. I have two land excursions on the aggressor but the rest is diving. Which is fine with me.

Yes, there are weight restrictions, but it's not insurmountable. You can bring your own gear. Just pack smart.

Most places do a check out dive on day one. It's sad that it's necessary, but it is.

Wet suit... what's your temperature tolerance? I think March water temps are mid 70's.
Hoods always help.

Good luck

Thanks.
I am pretty new to diving. I have not been on a dive trip so far away and so remote. My last trip so far and remote i was backpacking and hiking so it all had to fit on my back. My DC is a good travel BC. I have a 5mm Farmer John and a 3mm jacket, with a hood and gloves I bet I can handle down to 50 if it is warm top side. It will be my 40th birthday party present to me.
All info and support is welcome.
