Has anyone been on these boats over the last month and a half? I am scheduled to go in mid June and have some questions.

Please post and let me know how your trip was.

Thanks

Mike

That thread is the reason I posted this. I am looking for anyone who had been on the boats lately to get first hand information. At this point I am concerned but trying not to get into the panic mode.

The two boats have been back in operations again since the end of April. I am sure the legal problems may not be over but to my knowledge they are currently operating their trip in Galapagos.

I am booked on a liveaboard to the Galapagos in mid June.....I was under the impression that this was the high season (the cost reflected that) but seem to get the impression that the high season dosen't really kick off until July. Have I made an expensive mistake, or in reality, will the 2 to 3 weeks difference make a lot of difference from what I am likely to see ?.

Still p*ssing my pants in excitement and anticipation of the trip ;)

Hi Wossa - June should be a fabulous time to be there. In most years early June is the time that the waters start to cool from the Humboldt Current and whale shark encounters become more prevalent at Darwin & Wolf, but it was only in recent years that they adopted a Low or Manta Season from Dec thru May, and a High or Whale Shark season from Jun thru November. Some boats offered specials or slightly lower rates during that perido simply because of the number of boats and they were trying to find ways to fill the spaces. We have had very happy clients every month so far this year, with whale sharks on most if not all trips. I believe last year they were having more whale shark encounters later in the season, but that does not mean the diving is any less - you will have plenty to see. Have an incredible trip and let us know how it goes :-)

Thank you Dom for taking the time to reply, really looking forwards to going and will be diving from Deep Blue, I leave next weekend.
I will post an update and photos of how things went when I get back. Thanks again.

Check your PMs.
