How is the condition of the boat Galapagos Aggressor 1? How is the crew? Does the hot tub work etc? Are the staterooms nice? Food good? Thank you!

I went on the GA II and that was several years ago (2003?) but I'd rank that boat one of the best liveaboards I've ever been on. Everything in working order (including the hot tub) and the crew kept the boat immaculate. Food was excellent and diverse. The Sky Dancer, which I went on a few years later, had maintenance issues that adversely affected my cabin, the food wasn't as good (though still pretty decent), and the crew and guides not nearly as diligent/competent as the Aggressor's.

I just got off the Aggressor II a week ago.

The food was great and plentiful. The staterooms were comfortable. The crew was friendly and attentive. The hot tub remained covered, but that didn't bother me.

Anyone else go on Aggressor 1? We are going on it next year and I would like to know what it's like...etc? How were the land tours?

I just got off the GAII and found it like Mossman did. The hot tub worked as some in our group used it. The land tours were awesome, very good and informative and lots of great photo ops..Since we arrived a day late we were at the same spots as the GAI so i got to see her..The boat was listing pretty good to one side the whole trip...one person in our party spent one night on her before we arrived then he came back the GAII..he felt the GAII was more comfortable especially with the listing issue GAI was having, you tended to roll more in bed to one side. He wasnt sure what was causing the GAI to list to one side but thought they'd said it had something to do with the fuel storage.

I was on the GA 1 from Sept 2-9 this year. What a pleasure! Only complaint from all 7 rooms (our group had the entire boat- so we talked) was a lack of water pressure in the upper deck rooms after the last dives when everyone was trying to shower. Thats it. Hot tub was used daily by many in our group. The crew was outstanding. The land tours were led by very knowledgeable crew. Lenin (one divemaster) led some of them with Nelson (the other divemaster). Lenin is an ex-park ranger so knows his stuff, but his English is a bit weak. Nelson translated and did a great job. Of course, we also had 4 people who spoke Spanish fluently, so that helped.

Dive briefings are thorough and very detailed. Had the conditions cooperated the diving would have been spectacular. We had some rough seas to Wolf and darwin, and had green water (traveled thousands of miles to get So Cal conditions :-( but lots of fish life- just no whale sharks).

The food was amazing. we had a vegetarian with us and the chef duplicated as best he could the same dish but without meat. So instead of feeling like an afterthought, she felt like she was eating with everyone else. On other liveaboards she was usually given steamed vegetables or grilled cheese. This shows an amazing attention to detail. And her food rocked as well (some of us may have snuck some of that vegetarian as well).

I would travel with them again in a heartbeat.
