Is anyone else doing REEF surveys as part of the Great Annual Fish Count? So far I have done surveys this month in The Channel Islands and at Pt Lobos near Monterey CA. I am having a blast learning to ID more and more species. Its kind of like hunting but you dont kill it when you find it. Plus your contibuting to important scientific work as well.

How did it go Brian? There was no GAFC in Mexico, as far as I know. I am curious to hear what it involved and how you saw the campaign. Let us know when you find the time!

Thanks for asking. The count went real well for me as I met up with some great divers who showed me the ropes.I do surveys year around as well and find it adds a lot of fun to my diving. Does require some work as well. I was gone the last three days in Monterey diving and did some great dives there including a rough and tumble exit at Monastery. My surveys are finally showing up in the REEF database so that definitely spurs me on. If anybody needs help feel free to ask.
