I was wondering does this kit upgrade the G500 to an S600? I have the G500's made in Italy and wonder if this upgrade is needed. The part diagrams show that the G500 EU version is near identical to the S600.

As I recall that kit just included a new diaphragm and the 2 o-ring S-wing poppet assembly.

In my opinion, the older US made all black G500s were very sweet breathing second stages - better than the later black and grey italian made G500s or the S600s.

There is no reason in my opinion to "upgrade" a G500 to S600 status. IN terms of the s-wing poppet, that would be an annual service retrofitted part anyway, so it is not really an "upgrade" but rather just a standard retrofitted improvement.

Thanks for the info. I saw the kit online and wondered if it was worth having. I am bringing in some G500 and a Mk-20 (all purchased from ebay) for annual service so I wanted to be as well informed as possible. The regs look good and I would do the service myself but the Mk-20 needs the recall update done. Again thanks for your help.

If the price is right, it may be worth having the spare parts.

I agree. I'm currently dive a G500 and it is a great performer. Also, I like the look of the G500 better than the 600.

I belive so
