How buoyant is this thing? It seems to weigh a ton on land, I am wondering if I need to add some positive buoyancy to it.

Ikelite products are usually slightly negative once you put them in water so before doing anything get your camera in the housing and put it in the bathtub, then use a luggage scale to check buoyancy, I think it will be maybe 200-400 grams negative at max

the only ike housings I've had (S100 and RX100) were buoyant by themselves...once I put the ike dual handle tray on, it was a different story.

The S and RX Ikelite are slightly positive but the G have always been negative, either way the only way to check if to put it in water
Ideally your whole set up should be between half and one pound negative

I'm using a two handled Ike with Sony RX100, single YS-D1 strobe. I found it slightly negative in fresh water, but about perfect in salt water. If I was doing a little more fresh water, I'd probably add a float, but in salt, it's about right.

I haven't found either my G9 or G15's to be a problem once in the water. I find that they work rather well.
