Anyone have much luck with the int strobe? How about with or w/o that wierd diffuser?

I had luck with internal flash--lucky that it triggers my external flash just fine. :eyebrow: Use it close in for macro (2-3' range) and zoom out, otherwise you won't find it helping much (the housing cuts off the flash even with saladbar shield in place if you aren't zoomed out). Try it at Flash Output>Maximum, deal w/ the backscatter.

No worse than most internal flash setups, maybe slightly better due to Canon having a bit higher output than a lot of other brands. If you can't swing for an external flash now you can get some mileage as is but only about enough to make you start saving up. (If I make it sound marginal maybe you won't be too disappointed in results?) I didn't want to hear the opinion I'm passing along either, but folks were right about external flash. // ww

I agree with WW you will have to deal with the back scatter problem....It drove me nuts until the external strobe arrived. Also, I noticed a problem with fish "white eye" in many phtos due to the straight out and back action of the in-camera flash... very strange and unnatural photo results. Sort of like the "red eye" problem with human flash photos.
