ft lauderdale beach dive info and buddy needed

Hi,

I will be in Ft Lauderdale from feb 9-15,2011 and would like to try beach diving
instead of the regular boat dives.
I'm hoping to find a buddy to dive with just as a precaution.
I have never done a beach dive in this area, but was told it's pretty decent
and only 16-20 feet deep.

Anybody have any comments on the dive sites there or if they know of anyone
who may want to buddy up for a beach dive?
