REVIEW AND SPECIFICATIONS

That's kinda high isn't it? A new a620 and new housing runs as much as $100 less.

The Canon S400 is $500US new by itself.

The S series, which is the Digital Elph series, is much more pricey than the A series.

I understand but I just found the s400 as low as $450 and $165 for the housing and all NEW with a warranty. I also said "kinda" high and I still think it is kinda high for USED electronics without a warranty. It also depends on how used this gear is. Perhaps the seller will fill us in. JMHO. :05:

Edited: So that's about $555 US (according to the Bank of Canada online) for used gear. For a little over $50-$100 US more, you can get it new and with a warranty, depending on who you buy it from. It is a very cool little quality camera. Smaller than the a620 but the a620 beats it to death in features eventhough it is somewhat larger.

Edited again: Found the s400 at Cameras For Less for $277US and no taxes unless you are in NY. The SD400 was about $334. I didn't even do a USED ebay search yet...

The S series look smaller than the A series. How accessible are the buttons on the back of the WP housing? My A series is hard enough, especially with gloves on.
BTW, Jonnythan, you been using Vi-sene.....your glowing red eyes are gone, what happened?

Alright, just to answer some of the questions that have been raised. The S400 is a compact camera for everyday use. It's better than the typical point-and-shoot digital with a lot of custom features that you can look up online. The ideal person who might buy this camera would be someone who doesn't have a digital camera to begin with and who also wants to try underwater photography. Regarding the A620, it uses 4 AA batteries, which might be a pain, whereas the S400 uses it's own rechargeable, and I'm throwing in a spare, too. The S400 is a lot smaller (can wear it on your belt) and simply more convenient. Its underwater housing is manageable to use with gloves. Pricewise, I think it's still competitive, considering you're not paying taxes on it and the camera itself is in good condition (a few external scratches on the corners, but the lens looks brand new and very well kept). If you want to see sample photos I've taken with it, just send me a Private Message here so we can exchange e-mails.

So, how does $600 Canadian sound?

Noticing the harping of others, I decided to check out eBay. Your camera seems to be consistently selling for $200CDN. The casing too can be bought for $200CDN new on there too (that's where I got mine).

Sorry, but this stuff depreciates like mad. I bought my S30 for about $500, and now it seems to go for about $150 at last check. Sucks... luckily I don't feel any need to upgrade soon.

Also bought my spare battery for $15 of eBay.

Facts of life, guys. Depreciation happens. Let's not beat him up about it. Nobody calling with offers ought to speak for itself.

Good luck with the sale, pharmadiver.
