So here I want to replace the remote exaughst elbow of my Dive Rite wings with a plain elbow.

And I unscrew the little clamp to get the hose off to find that the thing is inexorably glued to the elbow by, what I assume to be, Aquaseal.

Solution?

A Dremel Tool with a cut off wheel and a slow speed.

You might try some hot water and elbow grease before you start cutting. I have seen some on old BCs that appeared to be glued but I was able to worry them off. I think I uses a nut pick to open up some seperation. That dremel tool might require a surgeons touch to not destroy both parts you want to seperate.

Hoses are often glued on, usually something less tough than aquaseal.

I usually a pallet knife to work under the hose and work it free. A pallet knife is used by artists (painters) for mixing and working paint and can be found at any art store.

I would recommend the more gentle methods described above first, but if all else fails....

Cut off the old fitting just short of the hose.

Crush hose and fitting in vise, rotate several times to break the fitting into several pieces. Careful not to tear hose, smooth vise jaws best.

Remove pieces of fitting from inside of hose with needle nose, grab, pull and twist toward inside.

Good luck,

Tobin

Or just buy a new complete inflation assembly, instead of just a new elbow.

Whats the fun of doing that BEFORE you have busted your knuckles, stabbed yourself with a nut pick and tantalizingly approached success, only to discover, after the stores close that you are to be denied?

Well, sure, when you put it that way....

Perhaps some acetone (aka nail polish remover)? But be careful. You don't want it on anythiing you don't want to come off. But that should thin the aquaseal or what ever glue it is. No guarentees it won't fry your gear, but it is an idea. Of course there is that Goo Gone stuff for removing sticky lables, and residue, but I think you will need somthing stronger.
