I was wondering the same thing. I got a friend request yesterday from somebody I have never met before. I know who he is, we've conversed in some threads, but never PMed each other or met in person. I was pretty flattered actually.

But what purpose does it serve? Seems like something teens would like. I've accepted 2 invites out of politeness and because I know one of them. But what's the purpose???
