I went to Fort Ross on Sunday. The ocean was beautifully flat calm. The visibility was only about ten feet but we had a great time getting our limits of abalone. The kelp is very thick.

Hi Kelphunter,

Welcome to scubaboard.
I see you're from Sacto, I'm just west of you in Santa Rosa.
Check into the Norcal forum here on SB or if you want to
meet up with some locals in Sonoma or Mendocino Counties for some monthly club dives check out the North Coast Divers (click the link in my signature line).

Welcome.

Saturday we scootered out to the right from the beach, following the sand along the rocks until we found a pinnacle and descend down from 29 feet to around 58 feet. The vis was around 25 feet, and the seas were flat. Fort Ross is a great dive site.
