Does anyone know of any good dive shops in the Fort Myers area?

Thanks,
Tom

Scuba Quest in the Cape Coral is the one I use and so far they haven't done me wrong but CBulla may have a better opinion.

Are you looking at doing some diveing in the area or just staying in Ft. Myers????

I'll be in the Fort Myers Aug 16-22, visiting family and was wanting to dive a couple of the days.

Also had another question. Are there any lobster or would I have to drive down to the keys?

Thanks,
Tom

Hey Tom,

Two distinctly different animals you are talking about. There are quite a few dive shops in the Fort Myers area. But I would suggest taking a drive for mid-week diving, Fort Lauderdale is pretty close and you will have many many choices of boats to go out on.

Okay, here are three local dive shops that I frequent. I like them all.

ScubaQuest http://www.scubaquestusa.com
Dean's Dive Center http://www.deansdivecenter.com
Coral Scuba http://www.coralscuba.com

A website to check out. http://www.florida-scuba.com/fort.htm

Another website to check dive shops. http://www.diveclub.org/affiliations/diveshops.htm

If you have any questions let me know.

There is also Underwater Exlporers in Ft Myers - They just purchased some really cool new equipment for their air/nitrox fills and the staff in there is really good. I've added their website to my sig line as they are my shop of choice due to proximity and their exceptionally friendly attitudes. ScubaQuest in Cape Coral is also good, Pete and his crew run a good clean shop there. I've visited a few others and have been less than impressed (one shop was so busy watching TV that they didn't even know I was in the place!).

For lobster.. they exist in the Gulf of Mexico, but from Ft Myers you are looking at a good boat ride out to get to where they are. I would suggest grabbing an east coast boat out of Pompano or Deerfield beach. I recently had a great experience with Splash Down Divers out of Pompano Beach - they have a very roomy boat and the dives were in excellent lobster housing areas. The Diversity out of Deefield beach is also good and very water hunter friendly.

Beach dives are also very abundant along the Broward county area as there is a reefline that is about 100 yards out along the whole beach... thats what you'll find me doing at night in a few weeks when I'm over there. :)

Thanks for the information. You've all been very helpful.

Thanks,
Tom
