Going to Maui for a week of diving with Scuba Shack in January 2008. First visit to Maui but second time to Hawaii.

I read a few posts on other sites about Scuba Shack that were all positive. Anyone here ever dove with them?

If you go the Hawaii-Ohana forum (below) and do a search, you can read recent comments there.

I choose not to dive with them due to the strange rules and rants by the owner that were recently published in Undercurrent. The most recommended dive ops on Maui are Mike Severns, B&B, Ed Robinsons, and Extended Horizons (for Lanai). For shore diving, Shaka Doug and Maui Dreams seem to lead the way.

If they're the op with the overly aggressive negative attitudes towards biological wetsuit warming systems, I think all of the talk of that might have been lost in the last big crash.:D

There is a dive op on the big island that I believe is called scuba shack (not dive locker) the owner Jay was a great guy and I highly recommend him. I'm not sure if its same name but adifferent company on the two islands or what...

I'll second Maui Dreams, Ed Robinson's and Mike Severns. For shore diving I always use Maui Dreams because I've always had great service with them. I can't comment on Scuba Shack at all. I've also heard great things about Shaka Doug but I haven't had the pleasure of diving with him yet.

.....

I would go with B&B Scuba first....Great bunch of HUMANS, unlike, Scuba Shack.
way to resurrect a six-month old thread simply to plug a favourite op.

Makes one wonder...

I just dove with them a few months ago and I'd say they are only ok compared to other dive operations. Their service isn't as good but Scubashack's boat and equipment are superior.
