I set the formatting in the menu to "yes." I can record on the card now. Do I leave the setting on "yes" permanently, or do I set it to "no" at some point?

Set formatting function to “no”, only set to “yes” if you want to format the micro SD card.

Instructions said to format card prior to first use- which I did by setting it to "yes." Do I now go back into the menu and change the setting to "no?" What happens if it is left set to "yes?"

Went back into menu and it automatically reset itself to "no"- so question answered.
I just wish the manual was more thorough in explaining lots of details. It tells you how to do things, but not why you change specific settings so one can know how to adjust for and fine tune specific picture elements.
