Gotta agree with mybluelife - all is very cool on Utila... the island seems blissfully unaware of anything that happens on the mainland. Life here goes on as normal, slow, relaxed, and happy with some great diving. Come on over, October can deliver calm seas and great diving and some good whale shark encounters.
Talking of which, we have had some fantastic trips recently and some great encounters... Some of my highlights during the last month have been:
Swimming with a huge pod of Spinner Dolphins on two separate occasions. There must have been over 300 of them - I have no idea how to estimate dolphin numbers but they were everywhere around the boat as far as you could easily see.
Swimming with Pilot Whales - not sure how many but maybe around 30. I haven't been in the water with Pilot Whales for a couple of years so that was great

there were a couple of young ones in amongst them too.
Whale shark encounters - 5 in one dive trip and a whole bunch over the last couple of weeks.
Two amazing trips to Cayos Cochinos in the last month... Diving Roatan Banks twice in a good current which delivered us huge schools of bar jacks, horse eye jacks and spade fish (and I'm not talking Black Hills huge here - for those that know Black Hills think in terms of schools 10 to 20 times the size of those commonly seen at Black Hills) schooling barracudas watching all the action, the biggest southern stingray any of us had ever seen, a nurse sharks, lobsters walking the reef during the day time, clouds of wrasses and the like everywhere....
I just wish we'd had more customers to take there!
Anyways, we are updating our website with some movies of some of the whale shark, dolphin and pilot whale action... It's taking me a little longer than I thought it would but check us out. You'll find a link to the movies on the front page.
