What kind of stobe do you have on your A570? And can I get decent photos without having to mess with white balance. I have always been a point and shoot person but keep seeing all those really nice shots with strobes. Not looking for anything fancy just a little extra light.

I used a 570IS for several years, in fact, I had two of them. I really like the camera a lot. I loaded the RAW cdhk hack on mine.

Yes, you need to "mess" with white balance to get best results.

Yes, IMO, you need an external strobe and a wide angle lens, I used the Inon D2000. OMV.

My OEM DC-12 housing was equipped with the Inon lens/strobe mount kit, Inon grip base and Inon D2000 strobe and Inon UFL165AD fish eye lens. My Ikelite housed 570 had a Inon D2000 strobe, Ikelite grip base and Inon UWL100 lens with dome kit.

No lens, no strobe:

What are your suggestions concerning arms and trays for Canon housing? I have seen something from Inon called Grip Base D4. Apparently, people have mixed feelings about it.

I would use the UCLS or Ikelite tray myself.

If you're on a budget you might want to consider. Trays, Arms, Handles & Clamps - Optical Ocean Sales

Basically until recently I used Nikonos V/SB105 setup but have decided to move to digital. Now I have bought an A570 with a Canon housing and am thinking about additional equipment because, it seems, there is no easy way to use an SB105 (it is not even supported by Heinrichs Weikamp's digital adapter).
ULCS seems quite expensive but, basically, I prefer to spend a little more and not have to replace everything at a higher cost quite soon after. It seems quite a lot of people prefer UCLS for its flexibility. The trays and arms from Optical Ocean Sales look quite nice and seem more affordable.

Must agree with the above, the CHDK OS can give good results using the A570IS.
